Dr. Denitra d. Griffin, Ed.D

President, AGB Investigative Services

Dr. Denitra Griffin has followed a journey from HR professional to educator to entrepreneur with a proven record of success. She excels at aligning strategies, operations, and a strong people-centric focus to set and achieve business goals. Denitra’s adaptability, self-efficacy, and decisiveness has enabled AGB Investigative Services, Inc., an ISO 9001 certified company, to grow from the family’s basement in 2001 to the largest African American owned security firm in the country today.

Denitra takes a holistic view, bringing all aspects of AGB’s business together. Her leadership creates a culture of success and responsibility. She educates her workforce to embrace constructive change, build new systems to yield positive improvements and a better environment.

As AGB’s President, Denitra Griffin and her husband John Griffin have grown the company steadily to more than $40 million in annual revenues, nationwide operations with regional offices, and more than 1,100 full time employees. Denitra trained the executive team to evaluate their business units’ productivity and create strategies to increase revenues. She wove together multiple software conversions that addressed workforce management, financial management, and fleet management issues resulting in 30% increase in net profit.

Denitra championed an ESG researched based framework, its policies, and metrics that manages risk and builds a diverse workforce, smart security technology solutions, waste reduction, and philanthropy. She also led the cyber security program design and created governance that guides the Information Security practices protecting the company’s data. Recognizing security for companies meant more than just physical security, she leverages the company’s strength in physical security and now participates in AGB’s expansion into the cyber security industry. Denitra holds a top-secret clearance from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Previously, Denitra Griffin worked in various educational roles for the Chicago Public Schools. She became National Board-Certified, the highest teacher credential possible. In another role as a district-wide education administrator, she coached teachers, parents, and principals and implemented several innovative leadership development programs. She spent several years managing a $12M program that positively impacted student performance of more than 10,000 students. Her last years as an Assistant Principal enabled her to hire, develop, and train educators and staff towards a school committed to teaching and learning of 400 students.

Denitra Griffin received recognition as a 2022 National Council of Negro Women in Business/Entrepreneurship, 2021 Chicago United Business Leader of Color and 2021 Chicago Business Woman of Influence. She speaks frequently before large audiences on topics related to entrepreneurship and women in business. Denitra serves as an adjunct professor and advisory board member of the Loyola University Quinlan School of Business MBA program. She currently chairs the Always Giving Back Foundation Board and serves on the African American Legacy Board of the Chicago Community Trust.
